Andhra Pradesh CM inaugurated Multi-speciality Hospital on the first day of his three-day tour of Kadapa

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is on a three-day tour of his native district of Kadapa  from December 23, where the Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Century Ply unit in Gopavaram, unveil several amenities at RIMS(Kadapa) and participate in Christmas prayers at the CSI Church in Pulivendula.

Today, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the newly built Super Specialty Hospital, Cancer Hospital and Psychiatric Hospital in Kadapa Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) premises. The three state-of-the-art special departments are now available at a cost of Rs.272.81 crores.

The State had only one such Mental health facility in Visakhapatnam till now. The government has taken the steps to establish the Institute of Mental Health within the premises of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa to deliver high-quality mental health services to the residents of Rayalaseema and coastal districts.

Earlier, patients from the district had to travel to Tirupati, Kurnool, Nellore and Hyderabad to avail better medical services. It is important to note that RIMS was established with a capacity of 750 beds during the regime of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

The mental health institute will be equipped with a total capacity of 100 beds, comprising 30 beds specifically allocated for de-addiction, four beds each for male and female wards, 10 beds for casualties, and 20 beds for jail wards. The State government has employed six assistant doctors, one superintendent, one psychologist, three senior resident doctors, and five post-graduates to serve in the Institute.

The Mental Health Institute, Multi-Speciality Hospital, and Cancer Care Centre have been established within the RIMS premises to enhance and offer advanced medical treatment facilities to the public.

The four-story multi-speciality block, covering 2.38 lakh square feet and costing Rs 125 crore, has a capacity of 452 beds. The 100-bed psychiatric hospital has been built at a cost of Rs.40.81 crore, while the 100-bed cancer hospital has been built at a cost of Rs.107 crore by AP MSIDC (Andhra Pradesh Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation).

The super-speciality block has high-definition intensive care units, a central laboratory suitable for all super-specialities, a radiology department, a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), a central pharmacy, 12 sophisticated modular operation theatres, an advanced cath lab, blood bank and CT and MRI scan centres.

The hospital will provide services for Cardiology, Neurology, Medical Gastroenterology, Nephrology under Medical Super-Specialities and Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, Neurosurgery, surgical gastroenterology, urology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery under Surgical Super-Specialities wing.

Chief Minister’s Itinerary:

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived at Kadapa airport on Saturday. From there, he will take a helicopter to Gopavaram to inaugurate the Century Ply plant.

After engaging with industry leaders, he will use the helicopter to travel to RIMS-Kadapa for the inauguration of Dr. YSR Super Specialty Hospital, the Institute of Mental Health, and the Cancer Rare block. Later, he will proceed to Idupulapaya for an overnight stay.

On December 24, the Chief Minister will participate in prayers at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya. Subsequently, he will head to Simhadripuram to inaugurate YSR Park, the Tahsildar’s Office, the MPDO office, and the police station buildings.

On December 25, he will depart from the Idupulapaya guest house to attend prayers at CSI Church in Pulivendula along with his family members. Thereafter the Chief Minister is slated to leave Kadapa airport by noon on the same day.
