TSRTC Witnesses Massive Income Surge During Dussehra Festive Season

tsrtc

During the Dussehra festival season, TSRTC experienced a significant surge in income. Over the course of the 11 days from October 13th to October 24th, TSRTC earned an additional Rs. 25 crore. This increase is primarily attributed to the operation of 5500 special buses by TSRTC, serving across Telangana, as well as Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. In comparison to previous years, TSRTC operated 1302 more buses during this festival season. These additional buses were deployed from several bus stops in Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, CBS, Dilsukh Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, KPHB, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Telephone Bhavan, ECIL, Uppal x road, and LB Nagar.

Dynamic pricing boost TSRTC’s income

Dynamic fares have become advantageous for TSRTC in increasing their income during this festive season. These fares are dependent on the level of rush; if there is less rush, ticket prices will be lower, whereas if there is a heavy rush, ticket fares will be higher. Compared to private travel, dynamic charges are lower, which is why passengers prefer to use TSRTC during the festive season, especially those travelling to Bangalore, Chennai, Vizag, and Vijayawada. There are 10 RTC regions in Telangana, namely Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Khammam, Medak, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, and GHMC.

On regular days, TSRTC earns around Rs. 12 to Rs. 13 crore per day. However, during this festive season, each region of TSRTC has been generating an additional income of Rs. 2.5 crore per day. The highest income collected in a single day during this season was a whopping Rs. 19 crore. Currently, special buses are also operational to facilitate passengers returning to their hometowns or villages from festival holiday vacations.

What is Dynamic Pricing System

Dynamic pricing system have been introduced in TSRTC this year, with artificial intelligence being used to factor in parameters such as passenger count and ticket demand. The dynamic fare is determined based on these factors. Initially, it was implemented on routes from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Warangal, Karimnagar, and Khammam. After obtaining positive results, it is now being implemented statewide.

The implementation of dynamic fares allows passengers to avail tickets at lower prices during off-peak seasons. For instance, the peak ticket fare for a Garuda bus service would be Rs. 1660, compared to the normal fare of Rs. 1390, while the lowest fare would be Rs. 960. Similarly, such fares would apply for super luxury services as well.
