Aadudam Andhra: Jagan Launches Mega Sports Event with CSK Talent Hunt Collaboration

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the grand sports event ‘Aadudam Andhra’ on December 26th. The inaugural ceremony took place at Loyola Public Schools in Nallapadu, Guntur district. Jagan administered the pledge to the participating players, emphasizing, ‘Pledging on behalf of all the players, we will adhere to the rules and regulations in the tournament and uphold the spirit.’ Following this, Jagan lit the ceremonial flame alongside badminton player Kidambi Srikanth.

Expressing the significance of the event, Jagan remarked that it marks a milestone in the country’s history and highlighted the positive impact of sports on health. During the ceremony, he distributed cricket kits to some of the players. Ministers RK Roja, Vidudala Rajini, and SAAP Chairman Byreddy Siddhartha Reddy were also present at the event.

Chennai Super Kings collaboration with ‘Aadudam Andhra’

In his inaugural speech, Jagan emphasized that the event marks a significant festival across Andhra Pradesh with widespread participation. He highlighted two primary objectives behind this initiative. Firstly, it serves as an awareness campaign about health through sports, shedding light on how sports can contribute to the control of diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Secondly, Jagan expressed the goal of identifying and promoting talented players from the village secretariat to the state level, encouraging them to compete at the national level.

To support this talent hunt, the Andhra Pradesh government has collaborated with prominent entities, including the Chennai Super Kings from the IPL team and the Andhra Cricket Association. Jagan also mentioned the involvement of renowned players Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu as mentors for badminton, as well as prime volleyball and pro-kabaddi organizers for volleyball and kabaddi, respectively. Jagan emphasized that these mentors and organizations will play a crucial role in nurturing the talent discovered during the event, helping them shine at both national and international levels in the future.

‘Aadudam Andhra’.. a 47-day mega sports event

The ‘Adudam Andhra’ sports event is scheduled to take place from December 26th to February 10th for 47 days across the state. Various sports, including cricket, volleyball, Kabaddi, kho-kho, badminton, and others, will be featured in the event. The event will be organised at different levels, including village secretariat, mandal, constituency, district, and state levels. A total of 1.22 crore registrations have been received for participation, with 34.19 lakh being players and 88.66 lakh being spectators. A whopping 3.33 lakh teams are set to compete in this tournament, with the government establishing 9,478 playgrounds for the purpose. The winners of the tournament will receive prize money amounting to over Rs. 12 crore.
