The Indian Red Cross Society enters into MoU with NCC in Andhra Pradesh

In a stride Forward and enhancing humanitarian efforts and youth engagement, Air Commodore and Deputy Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, V.M. Reddy, and retired IAS officer and General Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) A.P. State branch, A.K. Parida, joined hands in a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony. The event, held at the Andhra Loyola College (ALC), marked a watershed moment, as the two distinguished personalities sealed the partnership on October 26.

The occasion was graced by senior officers of NCC, including representatives from the Air Force, Navy, and Infantry, along with prominent figures such as Dr. A. Sridhar Reddy, the chairman of IRCS AP branch, B.V.S. Kumar, the State Coordinator for AP Red Cross Blood Banks, and several esteemed Colonels and Captains from different battalions of Andhra Pradesh. NCC officer Niranjan also participated, adding to the significance of the event.

Addressing the gathering, A.K. Parida highlighted the historic nature of the MoU, emphasizing that this collaboration was the first of its kind for the IRCS A.P. Under this partnership, approximately 1.60 lakh NCC cadets will soon be enrolled as Youth Red Cross Volunteers in the state, providing a robust foundation for empowering the youth in humanitarian endeavours.

Dr. A. Sridhar Reddy elaborated on the initiatives that would be undertaken under this collaboration. The A.P. Red Cross, in association with NCC, will provide training in crucial areas such as first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), disaster relief activities, and the importance of ecological balance in the face of climate change challenges. Additionally, the partnership aims to encourage young volunteers to actively participate in blood donation drives during emergencies, thereby contributing significantly to the society’s welfare.

Expressing his delight, V.M. Reddy commended the collaborative spirit between the two organizations. He emphasized the importance of such partnerships in nurturing a socially responsible and empathetic generation. By integrating the strengths of NCC and the Indian Red Cross Society, this initiative not only enriches the lives of the young cadets but also reinforces the essence of community service and solidarity.

This MoU signing stands tall, to the shared vision of NCC and IRCS A.P., reflecting their commitment to fostering a generation of compassionate, skilled, and socially aware individuals. Through this partnership, the youth of Andhra Pradesh are poised to emerge as torchbearers of change, actively contributing to the welfare of society and embodying the true spirit of service and camaraderie.
