Congress Telangana Praja Palanaa

The Telangana Congress government has introduced the Praja Palana application form aiming to provide five out of the six guaranteed schemes to the public. In order to benefit from the Maha Laxmi, Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Housing, Gruha Jyothi, and Cheyutha schemes, individuals must apply through the Praja Palana application form. The distribution and collection of forms for the Praja Palana program have been underway across the state from December 28th to January 6th. The program is being conducted at a total of 16,395 locations, encompassing 12,769 gram panchayats and 3,626 municipal wards.

As part of the Praja Palana program, one counter has been established for every 100 applications. A workforce of 3,714 officials will be actively involved in the program’s implementation. To apply for the Praja Palana schemes, applicants are required to submit the completed form along with a copy of their adhar card and white ration card.

What are the five benefits of Praja Palana?

The Congress government promised six guarantees during the Telangana elections, one of which was implemented on December 9th: free bus transport for women after coming into power. Currently, for the remaining schemes, except Yuva Vikasam, the government has commenced the Praja Palana application process. This single form facilitates the application for five benefits; based on their eligibility, individuals can apply for the respective schemes.

Mahalaxmi: Within the five schemes outlined in the Praja Palana application, the Mahalaxmi scheme entails the government providing Rs. 2,500 in financial assistance every month to women above 18 years old in the state. Additionally, the government offers a gas cylinder for only Rs. 500. To obtain a free cylinder, applicants must enter their gas connection number, distribution company name, and the number of cylinders used per year.

Rythu Bharosa: The second scheme is Rythu Bharosa, wherein the government pledges Rs. 15,000 in financial assistance to farmers per acre per year. The same applies to tenant farmers, who will receive Rs. 12,000 annually. To benefit from Rythu Bharosa, farmers and tenant farmers must specify the survey number and land size in the application form. Coolie farmers should include their Mnarega guarantee card number.

Indiramma Housing: The third scheme is Indiramma Housing, where the government offers Rs. 5 lakh in assistance to eligible individuals without housing for building a home. Under this scheme, the government provides 250 square yard plots to Telangana martyrs. To apply for this scheme, one must provide details such as the martyr’s name, martyr year, FIR number against them, and the death certificate. Telangana activists who participated in the statehood movement are also eligible, but they must include FIR and case details in the form.

Gruha Jyothy : The fourth scheme is Gruha Jyothy, where families using up to 200 units of electricity are exempt from paying the bill. To avail of this scheme, individuals should provide their electricity meter number in the form.Cheyutha: The fifth scheme is Cheyutha, providing pensions for individuals with disabilities, the elderly, widows, toddy tappers, dialysis patients, AIDS patients, beedi workers, pileria patients, and single women. Individuals who are already receiving pensions do not need to reapply, as indicated in the form.

Important Documents

To apply for the five benefits mentioned in the Praja Palana application, applicants should attach their Aadhar card and white ration card. These two documents are mandatory for every scheme. As mentioned by CM Revanth Reddy, without a white ration card, individuals cannot avail of these schemes. The CM assures that new ration cards will be issued so that those without a ration card can apply. However, Minister Sridhar Babu stated that the rules for issuing new ration cards have not been formulated yet. This has led to concerns among people without new ration cards, wondering whether they will be eligible for the schemes.

The government assures that the Praja Palana program will be a continuous process, alleviating concerns. The middle-class population is worried because, previously, they could avail of the Rythu Bandhu scheme even without white ration cards. However, the Congress government has now restricted it to BPL families with white ration cards.

Doubts in the Public’s Mind?

If a family has 3 to 4 women aged between 18 and 55, will the Congress government provide Rs. 2500 for each individual? If there is an older woman in that family, can she receive a Rs. 4000 pension under Cheyutha, while the family also benefits from the Mahalaxmi scheme? These are the lingering doubts among the public, and the government should provide clarification.

At the same time, there is chaos in Government offices in securing a form of application. Public awareness is the foremost while implementing welfare measures.
