Praveen Prakash

In a bid to uphold the quality of education and ensure students receive their necessary materials on time, the Principal Secretary of School Education, Praveen Prakash in Andhra Pradesh, has announced strict measures against delays in the supply of textbooks. From December 1, students and parents can now file complaints through WhatsApp or SMS regarding delayed textbook distribution. Here’s a breakdown of the recent developments:

  • A Whistleblower Channel: Lodge Complaints via WhatsApp or SMS: Students and parents are encouraged to use the designated WhatsApp number (9013133636) or send SMS messages to report delays in textbook supply. This initiative aims to create a direct line of communication between education authorities and the concerned parties, ensuring swift action in case of discrepancies
  • Rapid Response: Director of Textbooks to Act Within 24 Hours: Upon receiving a complaint, Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash pledges to conduct a thorough investigation. If the delay is confirmed, the Director of Textbooks will be required to supply the necessary materials within 24 hours. To compensate for the inconvenience caused, a fine of ₹1,000 will be transferred to the parents for the delay.
  • Accountability Measures: Fines Recovered from Education Officers: To hold education authorities accountable for delays, the announced fine will be recovered from the District Education Officer, Deputy DEO, or the Mandal Education Officer responsible for negligence. This stern measure is designed to discourage laxity in the distribution process and prioritize the timely provision of educational resources.
  • Site Visit Unearths Issues: Principal Secretary’s Observations: The recent announcement follows Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash’s visit to Zilla Parishad High School in Guntur district. During the visit, he discovered that science workbooks for Class IV students were not supplied on time, impacting their academic progress. Expressing displeasure, he highlighted the importance of timely distribution, especially during examination periods.
  • Learning from Past Mistakes: Strict Action Against Dereliction of Duty: Recalling a similar incident from the previous year at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Mr. Praveen Prakash expressed disappointment at the recurrence of such incidents. He stressed the need for education officers to conduct school-wise reviews and thorough inspections to prevent students from suffering due to administrative oversights.
  • Call to Action: Intensive Drive to Set Things Right: In response to the lapses in duty, Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash has directed Education Officers to conduct an intensive drive in the next 15 days. This initiative aims to rectify existing issues, prevent future delays, and ensure a seamless learning experience for students across the state.
