In a noteworthy effort to strengthen the legal community and assist emerging advocates during their foundational stages, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership in the Andhra Pradesh State Government is poised to unveil the second installment of the YSR Law Nestham on December 11. This undertaking is designed to furnish essential financial support to junior advocates navigating their initial three years of professional practice.

On Monday, the state government will release an impressive sum of ₹7,98,95,000 as the second tranche of YSR Law Nestham. This financial booster is specifically earmarked for junior advocates, granting them a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will ensure the direct deposit of this amount into the bank accounts of 2,807 eligible junior advocates for the period between July and December 2023.

Stipend Structure and Disbursement

The scheme outlines a comprehensive support system for junior advocates, with an additional ₹30,000 being deposited into the accounts of the beneficiaries across the state. The government has adopted a structured approach by providing ₹1.80 lakh over three years to each beneficiary. This financial aid is disbursed annually in two installments, amounting to ₹60,000 per annum.

Advocates Welfare Trust: A Pillar of Support

The YSR Law Nestham scheme has already proven to be a substantial force for good in the legal community. Over the last four and a half years, the government has disbursed financial assistance totalling ₹49.51 crore to 6,069 unique beneficiaries, including the present financial assistance. This outreach reflects the commitment of the government to nurture and support the next generation of legal professionals.

Parallelly, the government has established the ‘Advocates Welfare Trust’ with a substantial corpus of ₹100 crore. Chaired by the Advocate General, with Secretaries of Law and Finance as its members, the trust serves as a pillar of support for advocates. Financial assistance of ₹25 crore has been provided to date, encompassing loans, Group Mediclaim Policy, and other essential necessities for advocates.

Streamlined Application Process

Those seeking aid from the Advocates Welfare Trust can submit their applications online through [email protected]  or directly to the Law Secretary. In order to enhance the scheme’s effectiveness and ensure greater benefits for junior advocates in the form of a lump sum, the government has been disbursing assistance every six months.

To avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits, applicants are required to register online at https://ysrlawnestham.ap.gov.in  During the registration process, they should upload essential documents such as their Aadhaar number, bank account details, and certificates. Additionally, for any assistance or to address complaints related to YSR Law Nestham, individuals can reach out to the toll-free helpline ‘Jaganannaku Chebudham’ at 1902, as stated in the official release.

To ensure the scheme’s effectiveness and provide more substantial benefits to junior advocates, the government has implemented a strategic approach. Crediting assistance once every six months has proven to be a proactive measure, allowing for a lump sum distribution and a more efficient means of meeting the needs of the beneficiaries.
