Telangana Elections: Siddaramaiah gives bizarre response to KTR on job guarantee

siddaramaiah job guarantee ktr

Karnataka Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah statement has put the Congress in a tight spot, addressing the media persons here on Sunday in Hyderabad, Siddaramaiah said, “We have fulfilled five guarantees in the first phase and also 76 promises are fulfilled in this year’s budget. The manifesto is always for five years. At once, all the promises, which are made in the manifesto, cannot be implemented…”

Siddaramaiah’s remarks, that the pre-poll promise of filling 2.50 lakh jobs in one year could not be implemented in one go, were in response to refute the claims from KCR, his son, and other BJP leaders who told that, the Congress government in Karnataka failed to implement the promised five guarantees.

“In newspapers and Television, I saw that some say that the Congress government in Karnataka has not implemented the 5 guarantees. It has been said by the Telangana CM, his son, and other leaders from BJP. It is not true. We came to power in Karnataka in May. We went to the cabinet hall and made a decision to implement the 5 guarantees and the orders were issued on the same day. However, it took some time to implement it,” he said.

He also emphasized the allocation of budgets and invited KCR to discuss these matters in Karnataka.

“Earlier, I gave an open invitation to KCR to come to Karnataka and discuss this. But he did not come. Today I am inviting you again. Please don’t make false allegations. Otherwise, I will come here. There is no question of cheating the people. Congress never cheated the people. We have been implementing our manifesto. We will continue to implement this. The statement that development works have come to a standstill is not true. All the development works are going on,” he said.

He also pointed out the Shakti Yojana scheme that makes traveling free of cost for women in government buses and the Annapadhya scheme. “Grihajyothi was started in July, under which every households are getting up to 200 units free power. The Gruhalaxmi scheme was started in August, and every woman head of the family is getting Rs. 2,000. All four guarantees have been implemented except one, which is the Yuva Nidhi scheme which will start in January 2024. Under this scheme, Rs 3,000 would be paid to the unemployed youth and Rs. 1,500 for the unemployed diploma,” he said.

The Job conundrum in Telangana elections:

It is important to note here that the promise of jobs was one of the main premises over which the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi) fought alongside several students for the formation of Telangana.

However, the irregularities in conducting exams by TSPSC and the paper leak have discontented the Telangana youth. KTR had earlier accused the BJP of being behind paper leaks for recruitment exams and asked BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy whether any BJP-ruled state has recruited more youth in jobs than Telangana in the last ten years.

He had earlier alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did nothing after promising 2 crore jobs a year. Whereas Telangana has recruited 1,60,000 youth with another 70,000 recruitments in process.

Nonetheless, BRS Working President KTR has on various occasions during campaigning, admitted to shortcomings when it comes to the TSPSC commission.

Recently, KTR met with a group of TSPSC aspirants from Ashok Nagar to hear out their concerns. Through the discussion, he promised them that should they return to power, he would visit Ashok Nagar with the concerned officials on December 4, have a discussion with the students to understand what exactly they need and accordingly release a job calendar based on their feedback. He also said that they will increase the number of posts under Group 2 to 1,000.

Alongside the promise of a job calendar, BRS also said that should they return to power, they will completely overhaul the TSPSC commission.
