Telangana Elections: Revanth Reddy Confident of Winning 85 Seats for congress

Revanth Reddy Congress

TPCC chief Revanth Reddy emphasised that the Congress party is poised to secure 80–85 seats in the upcoming Telangana assembly elections scheduled for November 30th. He confidently stated that BRS is expected to be limited to 20–25 seats this time. Reddy highlighted that the public is inclined to vote against the arrogance, anarchism, and anti-people policies of the BRS government. While he hesitated to openly declare himself as the potential Chief Minister if the Congress comes to power in Telangana, Reddy indirectly conveyed his capability for the position. He dismissed concerns about his lack of prior ministerial experience by referencing prominent figures like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, who held positions as PMs, and NTR, who held positions as CM without previous experience. In a recent interview with TV9, Revanth Reddy shared his insights on politics, elections, and Congress policies.

KCR Treated Telangana Public as Slaves : Revanth Reddy

Revanth Reddy criticised Chief Minister KCR, accusing him of behaving like a king and treating the people of Telangana as slaves during the 10 years of BRS government rule. Reddy stated that KCR’s attitude is like, ”He has been providing everything to the public; then why would the public want to meet him? Why would they come to the Secretariat or Pragati Bhavan?” He added that KCR’s attitude, as demonstrated over the years, reflects a dismissive approach towards the concerns of the public.

Revanth Reddy further highlighted KCR’s repeated assertions that the clear mandate given by the Telangana public allows the ruling party to disregard opposition voices in the assembly. Reddy criticized this mindset, referring to it as a “just see our show” mentality that KCR has consistently displayed throughout his tenure.

Alleging a strategic move by KCR after the 2018 assembly elections, Reddy claimed that the Chief Minister had poached 158 leaders, including second-grade and lower-level leaders, from Congress to BRS across Telangana. The intention behind this, according to Reddy, was to prevent a resurgence of the Congress party. Despite these efforts, Reddy argued that the Telangana public has remained supportive of their cause. Even with fewer numbers, he pointed out that the public attended their large-scale events such as Dalita Girijana Dandora, Vidyarthi Nirudyoga Garjana, dharnas protesting TSPSC paper leakage, and Vari Deeksha. Reddy asserted that the public has consistently supported them in various ways across different events.

KCR Downfall started in 2019: Revanth Reddy

Revanth Reddy stated that the BRS Party’s slogan ‘Bangaru Telangana’ is artificial, asserting that the Congress party’s commitment to the people of Telangana is genuine. He pointed out that many media personnel and analysts are overlooking certain crucial facts about KCR. According to him, KCR’s decline began with the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which occurred shortly after the assembly elections. During that time, BRS managed to secure only 9 out of 17 seats. Subsequently, KCR’s downfall continued, with the party losing 2 out of 5 by-polls, reflecting public opposition to the government, he added.

Revanth Reddy recalled the 2016 elections when BRS won 99 seats, highlighting a significant decline in support to 53 seats in 2020, indicating a clear public backlash against them. He emphasized that whenever the public gets the opportunity, they express their discontent with the government. He also acknowledged that at one point, the BJP emerged as an alternative to BRS, but they missed the chance themselves. Currently, he noted that the BJP is asserting that, compared to the Congress, BRS is a better option in Telangana.

‘Indiramma Rajyam’ in Revanth Reddy words

Revanth Reddy explained the significance of the Indiramma Rajyam, the campaign slogan of the Congress party. He pointed out that during the tenure of Indira Gandhi, crucial initiatives took place, such as the nationalization of banks, distribution of assigned lands to the poor, the introduction of housing schemes for the underprivileged, and the implementation of irrigation projects in Telangana. Additionally, he highlighted the establishment of key factories like ECIL and BDL, along with other defense facilities in Hyderabad.

According to Revanth, significant infrastructure developments occurred under Congress rule, including the construction of the ring road in Hyderabad, the foundation-laying of Hitech City by Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy, and the development of various amenities such as flyovers and airports. He emphasized that the current lack of a vision document from KCR and the BJP demonstrates their focus on attacking the Congress in their campaigns rather than presenting positive achievements.

Revanth asserted that KCR’s negative campaign against the Congress is indicative of his fear of defeat. Instead of showcasing the developmental works they have undertaken, KCR and the BJP are opting for a campaign that revolves around criticizing the Congress, according to Revanth Reddy.

Revanth Reddy’s reaction to allegations of selling tickets

Revanth Reddy has refuted the opposition’s allegations that he sold MLA tickets. He argued that if such accusations were true, it would indicate a high demand for Congress party tickets—a stark contrast to the criticism previously leveled by the same opposition, which claimed that the Congress party lacked sufficient MLA candidates for elections.

Reddy clarified that he does not have the power over ticket allocations, stating that if he did, he would have given tickets to individuals such as Addanki Dayakar, Patel Ramesh, Vem Narendra Reddy, and Chalamala Krishna Reddy, all of whom are close associates. He emphasized that the allocation of tickets is decided by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), involving the scrutiny of the party’s Central Election Committee.

Responding to allegations of being a blackmailer and cheater, Reddy asserted that no one has substantiated such claims against him so far. In conclusion, he appealed to the people of Telangana to consider giving the Congress party a chance, highlighting the party’s role in the formation of the separate state of Telangana. Reddy pledged that if the Congress party comes into power, it would govern in alignment with the aspirations of the people, aiming to improve socio-economic and cultural conditions.

Ready to work in Andhra for the party: Revanth Reddy

He emphasized that BRS is the B-Team of the BJP, pointing out that BRS has supported the BJP on key bills such as GST, Triple Talaq, Article 370 abolition, and the election of the Vice President and President. He mentioned that the BJP government at the center had supported KCR when he called for early polls in 2018. He also acknowledged that the TDP had provided him with the opportunity to rise in politics. However, he clarified that he is now a committed Congress member. If the party instructs him to work for Andhra elections in the future, he is ready to shoulder the responsibility, even though his mentor, Chandrababu Naidu, is the main opposition against the current YSRCP government there.
