BJP Calls for CBI Probe in Seer’s Murder
Acharya Kamakumar Nandi Maharaj, the revered seer of Nandi Parvat Jain Ashram in Belagavi district’s Chikkodi, went missing on July 5. The last time anyone saw him alive was when he retired to his room for the night. Concerns arose the next day when the cook noticed his room was empty. After an exhaustive search, the trustees of the ashram filed a missing complaint with Chikkodi police. Tragically, on June 8, the police discovered the seer’s dismembered body in a borewell pit at Khatakbhavi village in Raibag Taluk.
This heinous crime has now become a political battleground, with the BJP seizing the opportunity to criticise the Siddaramaiah government. They are demanding a CBI investigation, citing dissatisfaction with the state police’s handling of the case. During an assembly session, the BJP underscored the need to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
