AP Parirakshana Samithi President and TDP supporter Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao made controversial comments against film director Ramgopal Varma. Kolikapudi offered a Rs. 1 crore bounty on the head of RGV during a debate on TDP-favored TV5 news channel, while discussing RGV’s upcoming movie ‘Vyhooham.’ Despite anchor Sambashiva Rao’s appeal for Kolikapudi to withdraw his comments, he repeated the same statements. Kolikapudi defended his remarks, stating that nothing is more important than society, and he does not want to retract his words.

RGVs response over Kolikapudi comments

Responding to the controversial comments made by Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao, RGV took to Twitter, stating that he is officially launching a police complaint against him. RGV alleges that Kolikapudi offered a monetary contract to kill someone. Additionally, RGV mentioned filing complaints against news anchor Sambasiva Rao and TV5 chairman BR Naidu. In another tweet, RGV expressed doubt about whether TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan support Kolikapudi’s comments, as they have not condemned them.

‘Vyooham’ the centre of controversy

Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming film, “Vyooham,” scheduled for release on December 29th, has become the centre of the latest controversy involving Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao. “Vyooham” is based on incidents from 2009–2019 in combined Andhra Pradesh politics. TDP alleges that CM YS Jagan is behind the movie, and Nara Lokesh has filed a petition against it in the Telangana High Court, seeking to cancel the censor certificate and stop the film’s release. This is not the first time Ram Gopal Varma’s political movies have sparked controversy; previous films, such as “Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Redlu” and “Laxmi’s NTR,” also faced similar issues.

This is not the first controversy involving Kolikapudi

Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao has a history of controversies. In a past TV show, which was also a TDP-favoured ABN news channel programme, Kolikapudi slapped BJP spokesperson Vishnu Vardhan Reddy with a slipper during a heated argument. Following this, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy referred to Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao as a paid artist of the TDP. Subsequently, the BJP decided to boycott the ABN News channel and its Andhra Jyothi paper.
