Putting an end to the suspense surrounding the Narsapur Assembly constituency ticket, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has made a decisive move by announcing the candidature of V Sunitha Laxma Reddy for the Narsapur constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections. He also announced that sitting MLA Madan Reddy would contest from the Medak Parliamentary constituency replacing Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, who is contesting as the BRS MLA candidate from Dubbaka.

The BRS party core committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, which met on Wednesday, took unanimous decisions bringing in these changes.

During the event, the Chief Minister praised Madan Reddy for his unwavering commitment to the party from its early days. He recalled their strong bond and referred to Madan Reddy as a brother. The Chief Minister emphasized that the choice to field Madan Reddy as the Medak MP aligns with the party’s overarching vision.

“Madan Reddy is a non-controversial leader who is popular across the erstwhile Medak district. Hence, it was decided not to confine him to Narsapur constituency. I thank the core committee for recognizing Madan Reddy’s seniority and service. I also appreciate Madan Reddy for extending his support to Sunitha Laxma Reddy,” he said.

KCR said that he was happy to hand over the B Form to Sunitha Laxma Reddy. “Madan Reddy enhanced his stature by accepting the change that the party has sought to bring about,” he said while congratulating Sunitha Laxma Reddy. Minister for Finance and Health T Harish Rao was also present.

Narsapur constituency has stood as an exception as the BRS leader did not initially announce the candidate in the first list, which was declared over a month ago. The party attempted to persuade Mr. Madan Reddy to yield the seat for Ms. Sunita, a former Minister in the Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy cabinet. However, Mr. Madan Reddy, is a trusted confidant of the Chief Minister for more than three decades, remained steadfast in his decision to run.

Mr. Madan Reddy was also approached by the Congress, assuring him of a nomination from their side but BRS leaders convinced him not to take any decision in haste and wait for Mr. KCR’s final verdict. His supporters were also rallying behind his candidacy.
