The KCR government in Telangana has announced another scheme in the state. For the well-being of state employees and pensioners, the government has introduced the ‘Employees Health Scheme’ by establishing the ‘Employees Health Care Trust’. This scheme aims to provide cashless, high-quality medical treatment to state government employees, pensioners, and their family members. As per the recommendations made by the first PRC (Pay Revision Commission) in the past, the government has taken a decision to set up the scheme. The state health department has issued a government order (GO) no.186 regarding the Employees Health Scheme.

EHS Implementation

Implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) will be overseen by the Employees Health Care Trust. Under this scheme, employees and pensioners will contribute a certain amount from their salaries every month, and the government will match this contribution with a significant grant. The monthly deduction will be automatically made from the accounts of employees and pensioners. The funds received from these contributions, along with the government grant, will be utilized for medical welfare.

Previously, representatives from employees’ associations had appealed to the government for the implementation of this scheme. They expressed their willingness to contribute 1 percent of their basic salaries each month. In line with this, Arogyasri Health Care Trust’s CEO, along with Health Minister Harish Rao, conducted several discussions with employees and received their proposals. Based on these proposals, a report was submitted to the government. After examining the report, the government subsequently finalized the shape of the scheme.

Employees Health Care Trust members

The Government’s chief secretary will act as the chairperson of the ‘Employees Health Care Trust’. Additionally, a special chief secretary from the finance department, secretaries from the health department, education department, home department, medical education department, General administration department, and the CEO of Arogyasri will serve as members of this trust. The CEO of EHS will serve as the member secretary, and a dedicated government servant will be appointed to this position. In addition, six employee representatives and two employee representatives will be nominated by the government to serve as board members. This board will provide recommendations to the government concerning policy decisions. The government has already allocated 15 posts to the Arogyasri Trust for EHS management.

Employees thank CM KCR

The state health minister, Harish Rao, thanked CM Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for introducing the Employee Health Scheme, which has benefited around 7 lakh government employees and pensioner families, he added. Harish asserted that the BRS government has once again proven with this decision that they are a friendly government. Leaders from various employee unions expressed their gratitude to the government for implementing this scheme to benefit their medical welfare.
