Telangana Elections: Three-fourth of Karnataka Cabinet deployed for upcoming polls.

Karnataka congress

The All-India Congress Committee (AICC) has deployed functionaries from Karnataka to campaign for the party in Telangana. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar are among the ministers who have been actively campaigning in Telangana.

In Telangana, the Congress is struggling in election campaigns due to a lack of local big names that can stand up to the stature KCR commands in Telangana. Congress ministers are working to promote the achievements of the party’s election promises in Karnataka and reassure voters in Telangana that they can expect comparable success if the Congress comes to power. Siddaramaiah has refuted allegations from Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao that the guarantees made in Karnataka have not been successful.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) has deployed nearly 75 percent or 3/4th of its functionaries from Karnataka including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, alongside ministers like B Nagendra (ST welfare and sports), Zameer Ahmed Khan (housing) and D Sudhakar (higher education), R Ramalinga Reddy (transport minister), KJ George (energy minister), Laxmi Hebbalkar(woman and child welfare minister) and other high profile ministers from the Karnataka Cabinet have been campaigning in the Telangana elections.

They have been tasked to popularise the success of the five poll guarantees, four of which were implemented in Karnataka and to make the voters believe that the schemes will be implemented with the same success in their state if Congress is voted to government.

“Congress party has successfully implemented four of the five guarantees, while the fifth will be launched soon,” Siddaramaiah said. “Our guarantees will continue for all of five years in Karnataka. I am certain that even in Telangana, Congress will implement all its six guarantees,” he said, last Sunday in Hyderabad.

It is important to note that earlier on Sunday in Hyderabad, Siddaramaiah gave a bizarre response to KTR on Job Guarantee, which had put the Congress in a tight spot.

“We have fulfilled five guarantees in the first phase and also 76 promises are fulfilled in this year’s budget. The manifesto is always for five years. At once, all the promises, which are made in the manifesto, cannot be implemented..,” said Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Coffers for Telangana Elections:

Earlier last month, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of Northeast Region, G. Kishan Reddy had alleged that the Congress government in Karnataka has started levying taxes and collecting “commissions” to fund the Assembly elections in Telangana and elsewhere in the country.

“After making promises in the name of guarantees which it could not keep, the Congress government there has been levying heavy taxes on people for the past four months, collecting hundreds of crores of rupees,” said G. Kishan Reddy last month.
