A total of 4,798 nominations were filed across Telangana in 119 assembly constituencies. Among them, the Election Commission accepted 2,898 nominations and rejected 1,900 nominations. The highest number of nominations, 114, were filed in Gajwel, where CM KCR is contesting, while the lowest, 7 nominations, were filed in the Narayanapet assembly segment.
Based on the affidavits of candidates, Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy, the Congress candidate, is the wealthiest politician contesting in these elections. In the Rs.100 crore club, there are 3 candidates from BRS, 3 from Congress, and only one from the BJP. Here, we look at the key candidates’ assets and liabilities from all political parties.
Wealth of Key BRS Leaders
Telangana CM and BRS Party chief, KCR, has a net worth of Rs. 58.70 crore and liabilities of Rs. 17.27 crore. KCR’s annual income for the period 2022-23 is Rs. 1.60 crore. There are 9 pending criminal cases against KCR. In the BRS, key leaders including KCR and ministers KTR, Malla Reddy, and Puvvada Ajay are in the Rs.50 Crore Club list.
Wealth of Key Congress Leaders
In the Congress party, there are three super-rich politicians, Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, and Ponguleti Rajagopal Reddy. Vivek Venkataswamy has a net worth of Rs. 606 crore. Interestingly, Chief Minister KCR has mentioned in his affidavit that he borrowed Rs. 1 crore from Vivek. This information was also mentioned in his 2018 affidavit. Rajagopal Reddy has a net worth of Rs. 458 crore, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has a net worth of Rs. 433 crore.

In the BJP, Dharmapuri Arvind is the wealthiest candidate with a net worth of Rs. 106 crore, followed by Etela Rajender with a net worth of Rs. 53.94 crore. The BJP candidate for Karimnagar, former state chief Bandi Sanjay, has a net worth of Rs. 79.51 lakhs.
The chief of BSP Telangana, RS Praveen Kumar, has a net worth of Rs. 73 lakh, while AIMIM candidate Akbaruddin Owaisi has a net worth of Rs. 18.76 crore. Overall, in Telangana, the wealthiest candidates are predominantly from the Reddy community, followed by Velama, Munnuru Kapu, Mudiraj, Yadav, and Goud communities.
