The voting for the 119-member Telangana assembly was held in a single phase, seeing inclusive participation from wide spectrum of people, including young first-time voters, elderly and PwD and third-gender voters making their mark on the polling day.

Big names make their mark on polling day:

The election day saw actors like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Rajasekhar, Brahmanandam, Sai Dharam Tej, Vijay Devarakonda, and others, franchising their voting rights.

Even, Tripura Governor Nallu Indrasena Reddy on Thursday casted his vote in Hyderabad and requested people of the state to step out and vote in large numbers and celebrate democracy. Indrasena Reddy said that today is not a holiday, adding that it’s a day of festival and everyone should cast their vote.

“Today cannot be declared a holiday, it’s a day of the festival and everyone should cast their vote. I request the people of Telangana to vote in large numbers and celebrate democracy,” the Tripura governor said.

Also, the seats that were won with a thin margin in last 2018 elections, are in focus this time.

With all the political parties keeping their fingers crossed, the various exit polls have predicted a direct contest between the ruling BRS and Congress, with some speculations of hung assembly are also in the fray.

In all the exit polls conducted on Thursday indicated a closely contested electoral competition in Telangana between the Congress and the BRS, with the majority of polling agencies leaning towards a favorable outcome for the Congress. The neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh’s politics will be very volatile, depending on the result of Telangana Elections. The Telugu Desam led by Chandrababu has high stakes in Telangana Congress, Janasena led by Pawan Kalyan is fighting elections in 8 seats in alliance with BJP. With Exit Polls, promising good yields for Congress, Telugu Desam has already started their politics around the same.

While the BRS seeks to retain power for a third straight term, Congress is trying to topple the KCR government with all their might in this Telangana war. BJP has much to lose in this elections with regards to the their South Plan. After Karnataka, debacle BJP needs a win desperately and it doesn’t look good for them in Telangana.
