TDP’s pitch for ‘CBN Gratitude Concert’ makes it a laughing stock among the Netizens

CBN Gratitude Concert

Thousands of Supporters of N. Chandrababu Naidu  gathered at GMC Balyogi stadium in Gachibowli on Sunday, in support for TDP president and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, during the ‘CBN Gratitude Concert’. The concert was organized by Telugu Desam activists to mark the silver jubilee of the ‘Cyber Towers.’ It was attended by some celebrities that included Tollywood actor and former MP Murali Mohan, film director Boyapati Srinu, producer Bandla Ganesh, Serilingampally BRS MLA Arekapudi Gandhi also made an appearance at the concert.

The gathering was orchestrated in conjunction with the ongoing “I am with CBN” movement, which stands in opposition to the purportedly “illegal” detention of Mr. Naidu.

According to yellow media, the event was attended by lakhs of people at Gachibowli stadium, which seems inconsistent with the fact that Gachibowli stadium has a capacity to house thousands, that invited trolls from netizens. The GMC Balyogi Stadium has a maximum crowd capacity of 30,000 people.

Though the TDP cadre is putting forth maximum effort to generate a widespread public outcry in response to CBN’s arrest but the event has now become a laughing stock after reactions and trolls on the social media.

People have found the timing and place of the event absurd and perplexing, in context of TDP’s announcement on Sunday to withdraw from Telangana elections, sparking possibility of a low turnout, if this show of strength was conducted in Andhra Pradesh. The concert timing also got mixed with TDP’s blindfold campaign named as “Jagan Kallu Teripidham”.

“CBN was arrested in AP in a government-related scam. If these people really wish to protest, they should an event in AP. Why did they come to Hyderabad? Is it because it is easy to mobilise the crowds through money distribution?” A netizen commented.

Another netizen commented “TDP taking pride in the public turnout for this event has to be a senseless approach. If TDP really is strong in Telangana, then why aren’t they contesting in the Telangana elections. Holding such musical concerts in the aftermath of CBN‘s arrest shows their cluelessness.”

Many people expressed disbelief at the idea of holding a concert in such a grave situation, lampooning the event organisers and TDP supporters on the social media. TDP even used a duplicate of CBN to rally in the stadium. Later a performer even danced like the late legend NTR, founder of TDP.

Actor Bandla Ganesh, who attended the event, is popular for his speeches at movie events, but this time he tried his skills at the political stage too, inviting trolls for being overly melodramatic, where one user on X compared the speech to an impromptu stand-up comedy.

TDP journalist Ramesh Kandula made a comment on the establishment of Ministry of IT in the country in 1999, which is factually incorrect. TDP has been trying very hard to give the full credit of the IT industry in the country to Chandrababu Naidu. At times, there have been video snippets from Naidu himself with half-baked claims on IT. This time, the Netigens tutored Ramesh Kandula on his statement.

TDP’s effort to extract any advantage from the CBN Gratitude event has been thwarted. Currently, the TDP is grappling with the challenge of maintaining CBN’s relevance in the Telugu states, as the masses have begun to move on and forget about him.
