Several schools get bomb threat emails in Bengaluru, students, staff evacuated

bangalore school bomb threat

Bomb threat emails were sent to several schools in Bengaluru, prompting the evacuation of students and staff members. Though the exact number of the schools receiving the threat is not known, some unverified sources say that as many as 48 schools in and around Bengaluru received the bomb threat on Friday morning. Authorities were forced to evacuate the students for checks by the anti-sabotage and bomb squads of the city police. Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, B Dayananda has called the threat a hoax.

Repeat from the past:

According to some police sources, the email threats were on similar lines to those received in multiple schools in 2022.

It is important to note that, last year on April 8, 2022, as many as 16 schools in Bengaluru received hoax bomb threat emails between 11 am and 2.30 pm.

The email read: “A very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, attention is not a joke, this is not a joke, a very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, immediately call the police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer including yours, do not delay, now everything is only in your hands!”

That time, in 2022, the police filed a case on charges of cyber terrorism, and the investigation revealed that a minor from Tamil Nadu was responsible for creating the email IDs used in the threats.
