PM Modi Invokes Ram Temple, Sparking Vote Bank Speculation

Ayodhya for Hindus

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be ready soon and hailed the contribution of Hindu spiritual leader Jagadguru Rambhadracharya in its making. While delivering a speech at a public function at the Tulsi Peeth of Jagadguru Rambhadracharya at Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh, the PM also said that Sanskrit is not only the language of tradition but also our progress and identity.

“Jagadguru Rambhadracharya ji has played a big role in fulfilling one of the dreams of every countrymen-the Ram temple, for which you have contributed so much, in and outside the court is also going to be ready,” he said as Hindu leaders present at the gathering cheered. In his speech, the PM also mentioned the invitation given to him by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple, which is expected to take place on January 22.

Praising Jagadguru Rambhadracharya for his wisdom, the prime minister said, “The level of wisdom is never personal, this wisdom is a national treasure.” The PM also remembered his contribution to the Swachh Bharat Mission as one of the nine key ambassadors.

On the Occasion, he released three books ‘Ashtadhyayi Bhashya’, ‘Ramanandacharya Charitam’ and ‘Bhagwan Shri Krishna Ki Rashtraleela’ written by Jagadguru Rambhadracharya.

PM Modi said national goals like cleanliness, health and Clean Ganga are being realised now. Also talking about the Sanskrit language, he said efforts were made to uproot the culture and heritage of India during the thousand-year-old era of slavery.

“The slave mentality which was carried forward by certain individuals resulted in a feeling of enmity towards Sanskrit. Sanskrit is not only the language of traditions, it is also the language of our progress and identity,” the PM said and highlighted his government’s efforts in the past nine years to promote Sanskrit in the Country.

The PM also expressed confidence that Chitrakoot will scale the new heights of development. Tulsi Peeth, an important religious and social service institution in Chitrakoot, was established by Jagadguru Rambhadracharya in 1987 and is one of the leading publishers of Hindu religious literature.

A few days back Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consecration ceremony, which is expected to take place on January 22. PM Modi said on X, “I feel very blessed. It is my good fortune that in my lifetime, I will witness this historic occasion.”

The Politics around Babri Masjid is still alive!

After Modi’s statement, the Prominent Muslim organisation Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind on 27 October expressed concern over the expected participation of Narendra Modi in the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, saying that as the country’s Prime Minister, he should abstain from attending such events. He emphasised that given the circumstances, the prime minister of the country should abstain from participating in ceremonies of any religious structure. He also stressed the importance of ensuring that all religious rituals remain free from political interference and are conducted and attended by religious people only.

A Vatican for Hindus!

The Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be for Hindus what Rome and Vatican City are for Christians. It will be the biggest ‘Tirth Sthan’ and become a symbol of the country,” Said Actor Kangana Ranaut after as she was in the city of Ayodhya promoting her new movie Tejas. The popular social media debate of having a Hindu city similar to Vatican, that would ‘Hypethetically’ rule over Hindus all around the world is active again.

The International Support

“Ayodhya is very important for both of us (India and South Korea) historically. The central government or UP government should elaborate the programme (of Ram Temple inauguration). We will work on that (attending the Ram temple inauguration) if the government of India issues an invitation,” said South Korean Ambassador in India Chang Jae-Bok.

Prior to this The Shaligram stone, for the construction of deities was given by the Government of Nepal, which was widely praised online. A Lost Hindu glory being restored, by the believers is the narrative that connects all Hindus likewise.

Modi’s Emotional Involvement in Ram Temple Ceremony

  • Emotions Regarding Ram Temple: Modi’s expressed emotions and personal connection to the Ram Temple event, as seen in his statement that he feels “blessed” to witness it, could resonate strongly with his Hindu supporters and those who hold the construction of the temple in high regard.
  • Concerns Raised by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind: The concerns expressed by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a prominent Muslim organisation, regarding Modi’s participation in the ceremony, may be an indicator that some within the Muslim community might view this as a political leader taking sides in a religious matter. This could potentially lead to disillusionment among some Muslim voters.
  • Delicate Balance Between Politics and Religion: The situation highlights the ongoing debate in India about the role of political leaders in religious events. Modi’s presence and comments at the temple event may be perceived differently by various religious communities.
  • Impact on Vote Bank: It will be interesting to see whether Modi’s involvement in the Ram Temple ceremony affects his vote bank. For his Hindu supporters, it may enhance his image as a leader who upholds their cultural and religious values. However, it might lead to concerns or doubts among members of other religious communities, particularly Muslims, who might feel that their interests and sentiments are not being adequately represented by the Prime Minister.
In the run-up to elections or the broader political landscape, Modi's actions and statements regarding religious matters can influence his appeal across different religious groups and impact the electoral dynamics. The extent to which this emotional connection to the Ram Temple influences his vote bank from other religious communities will likely depend on the perceptions and sentiments of the voters themselves.
