Petrol Bomb thrown at Tamil Nadu Governor’s House, Opposition attacks the DMK for its brand of Politics!

Tamil Nadu Governer

Yesterday, a drunken man threw an improvised explosive device towards the residence of the Governor of Tamil Nadu at approximately 3 p.m. The drunk person’s attempt to cause harm was thwarted when the explosive device dropped upon the barrier positioned before the entrance and failed to detonate.

The police officers, who were actively engaged in their official duties, nabbed the individual in their custody and confiscated two additional containers that he possessed. He travelled Sardar Vallabhai Road in close proximity to the highway research centre.

Police Statement

As per the statement provided by Additional Commissioner of Police Prem Anand Sinha, the individual in question, identified as M Vinodh, also known as Karukka Vinodh, aged 42 and residing in Teynampet in Chennai. Interestingly, he is now facing seven cases and was recently released on bail. Fortunately, there is an absence of damage or harm.

It has been revealed that the accused in question had engaged in like actions at a political party establishment and in the vicinity of the Teynampet police station during the tenure of the AIADMK administration. There were accusations alleging that he had vocalised slogans against the Governor and agitated for the removal of the NEET.

Why the attack on Governor

Over the course of the past few months, the Governor has been subjected to a series of persistent malicious attacks, characterised by the use of vulgar slurs and the imposition of threats upon his personal safety.

The Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan, in a complaint directed to the Commissioner of Police following the petrol bomb incident, stated that DMK leaders and workers had threatened to intimidate the Honorable Governor and impede the fulfilment of his Constitutional obligations.

Annamalai attack DMK

Given the prevailing circumstances, K. Annamalai, the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), availed himself of the occasion to express disapproval towards the incumbent ruling party in the state.

He expressed on the social media platform Twitter that the aforementioned incident accurately represents the prevailing state of law and order. While the DMK is currently engaged in redirecting the focus of the public towards trivial subjects of concern, the streets have been seized by criminals.

Furthermore, the culprit involved in the assault on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Chennai in February 2022 is believed to be accountable for the recent attack on Raj Bhavan,” he stated. Furthermore, he claimed that the DMK government was providing financial support for these attacks to divert people from the real issues.

Opposition Leader on Law and Order

Leader of Opposition and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said the incident showcases the poor condition of law and order in Tamil Nadu. “The intelligence and police machinery have broken down. Police are saying the accused was released from jail recently; this makes one wonder if this conspiracy was hatched in the prison,” he said.

Safeguard BJP Office in TN

According to Union minister L Murugan, the state’s law and order situation is in a state of disorder, as seen by the current circumstances surrounding the Governor. The occurrence is subject to strong condemnation.

It is imperative for the government to not only investigate the individual responsible for throwing the petrol bomb but also to identify and address the individuals or groups that orchestrated this act and thereafter implement rigorous measures against them. According to the speaker, had appropriate measures been implemented promptly following the assault on the BJP headquarters last year, the subsequent incident might have been prevented.
