Tamil Actor Mansoor Ali Khan has released a clarification, saying that he always regarded his female co-stars with respect and what he said about Trisha was taken out of context and misinterpreted.
Actor Mansoor Ali Khan’s controversial comment about his Leo co-star Trisha caused a stir overnight, so Mansoor Ali Khan put out a statement explaining his position and how his comments have been misconstrued. The issue worsened when Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj, singer Chinmayi Sripada, and other prominent individuals spoke out against Mansoor’s statement.
Trisha’s Statement
A couple of days back, leading Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan, through the X (formerly Twitter), stated below, “Mr Mansoor Ali Khan has spoken about me in a vile and disgusting manner.I strongly condemn this and find it sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive and in bad taste. He can keep wishing, but I am grateful never to have shared screen space with someone as pathetic as him, and I will make sure it never happens for the rest of my film career as well. People like him bring a bad name to mankind.”
Mansoor’s Defence
My Children forwarded some messages that I had insulted Trisha. This is a hatched conspiracy and premeditated by enemies as my important films are going to be released, and I am to contest in upcoming elections from a prominent party. Actually, I spoke well about Trisha. What I mentioned was, like in my past films, presently, I am not getting an opportunity to act with actresses in a banter mixed talk. Some people edited and shared such clips.
He further states he is not a guy cowed down by such criticisms and personal attacks. He suspects people have shown some fabricated videos to Trisha. Mansoor was aggrieved that actors who acted with him became Ministers, MPs and MLAs, and some of them were successful in business and got settled. Moreover, in Leo’s film shooting, he told Trisha that his elder daughter Dil Rupa is a big fan of hers. He is planning to get married to his two daughters.
Mansoor elaborated he acted in more than 360 films and everyone knows that I respect my co-stars in a dignified way. Most of the film fraternity knows that well.
Such a slanderous campaign to defame will not work with me. In this world, there are plenty of issues other than this. Go and focus on your livelihood. Thank You.

Disheartened and enraged to hear the misogynistic comments made by Mr.Mansoor Ali Khan, given that we all worked in the same team. Respect for women, fellow artists and professionals should be a non-negotiable in any industry and I absolutely condemn this behaviour. https://t.co/PBlMzsoDZ3

Andhra Minister Roja’s Condemnation
Roja Selvamani, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Youth Advancement of Andhra Pradesh, sought strong legal action against such incidents, including a TDP MLA who attacked her. The empowered women in politics and cinema are also not spared, then imagine the gravity of it.
Whenever men speak against women, strong legal and police action should take place. Whether it’s @JaiTDP MLA who attacked me. Or Mansoor Ali Khan who again has spoken about @trishtrashers, @khushsundar and Me. Unless strong legal actions take place, these men will never fear…

Singer Chinmayi’s Displeasure
It has been approximately two to three days since Mansoor Ali Khan’s abusive remarks during a press meeting. No disciplinary action from the Union and apology from him is not shocking. She further connected seven times National award winner lyricist Vairamuthu molested her, and now he is scot-free.

Actress Malavika said how men see women and think about them is outrageous. And they possess the guts to speak it publicly is unimaginable.
This is disgusting on so many levels.

It’s shameful enough that this is how this man views women & thinks about them, but then to have the guts(!!) to speak about it this openly & unapologetically, not even worried about repercussions??
Shame on you. Despicable beyond belief. https://t.co/C45Mfzm1Nd

However, until now, there have been no condemnation statements from leading South Indian Male actors, which is a matter of concern in an industry where men dominate. The debate over women’s representation, sexual abuse and gender equality in industry and objectifying women in films has been in discussion after the #MeToo movement in the Tamil film industry.
