KCR : The Dreamer of National Politics Predicts an Era of Regional Parties in the Future

KCR BRS Party

It is surprising that CM KCR, who has been actively working to transform the regional party into a national party and steer it in that direction, suddenly reverts back to speaking like a regional party leader. During his speech at the ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ in Khammam, KCR made interesting comments about the future of politics. He stated that the upcoming era belongs to regional parties and highlighted that the interests of the states can only be safeguarded if regional parties are in power. KCR expressed these views to emphasise that only his party can protect the state’s interests, urging people not to vote for Congress and the BJP. However, given that KCR has spent a year preparing groundwork to enter national politics, what is the reason behind his sudden shift in declaring that regional parties are the future’?

Why KCR suddenly highlights ‘Regional Party’ importance

KCR transformed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a party cherished by the people for its efforts in fighting for and achieving a separate state of Telangana, into the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Politically, KCR believes that he has garnered enough fame and prestige in Telangana and now intends to showcase his political acumen beyond the state’s borders. To this end, preparations have been underway for a year to make a foray into national politics. KCR has been actively engaged in Maharashtra, a neighboring state, where he has been holding numerous meetings and party programs, displaying his eagerness to make an impact in the upcoming general elections there. However, his current focus is on the Telangana state, as it is in the midst of assembly elections. Only if he manages to regain power in Telangana will he have the opportunity to pursue his long-held dream of contributing to national politics. Should the election results differ unfavorably, KCR’s aspirations of entering national politics will be shattered.

In this context, KCR considers the Telangana Assembly elections to be the most prestigious. If the election results once again prove that the people have unwavering faith in the BRS government and its leadership, it would help BRS for their national political ambitions. In this order, the sentiment of being a regional party is being reaffirmed to the Telangana people in the state assembly elections by KCR. Despite TRS’s foray into national politics, KCR indirectly emphasises that the party’s top priority will be the interests of the region, as it has deep roots in Telangana. He emphasised that regional parties will support and prioritise the welfare of the people in the state.

Is KCR not thinking about the General Elections!

KCR is not leaving any stone unturned for a hat-trick victory in Telangana. If they want to do national-level politics in the future, they have to face the assembly elections ahead of them successfully. In this order, KCR again uses regional  party sentiment. There is no doubt that this trend followed by KCR will make him critical in the future. KCR, who says that only regional parties will do justice to the states, may face criticism for going there and doing politics when there are regional parties in Maharashtra. If the Telangana assembly election results are negative, these criticisms will be more severe. That is why they are again trying to claim their party as the one that fought for the achievement of a separate state and as the party of the people of Telangana to regain power in Telangana. As KCR’s current target is the Telangana assembly elections, he is implementing strategies according to the current political needs. To what extent will these strategies help? It remains to be seen whether these elections will give a boost to KCR, who wants to turn the wheel in the country’s politics as a national leader, or whether they will produce negative results.
