Indian fans return gift to Barmy Army on X

On the 29th ICC Cricket World Cup match between England and India at Lucknow, the Men in Blue showcased a brilliant performance to register their sixth win in the tournament with a massive margin of 100 runs. India’s batting Superstar Virat Koli was dismissed for a duck and the internet took a storm discussing his shot selection to big-match temperament. Albeit it was mixed reactions, social media was flooded with memes to troll him. But the biggest attack came from the The Barmy Army (England Cricket Official Fan club).

The Barmy Army’s Attack on Kohli 

The banter started when the English Cricket official social media handle in X (formerly known as Twitter) known as England’s Barmy Army, posted a meme on Virat Kohli when he was out for a duck. This is the first time Virat Kohli got out for zero in a World Cup match. 

The Barmy Army released a morphed picture of a duck in a waterbody, replacing it with the head of Virat Kohli. It went Viral and garnered 12 million views on Twitter. The post went viral, and Indian Cricket fans were left fuming. 

The tweet got more than 5000 quotes from Indian Twitter and the Bharat Army’s reply own the hearts of Indian fans.

Bharat Army’s Savage Reply

Interestingly, Indian pace bowlers took the wickets of English Star batters Ben Stokes, Joe Root and tail-ender Mark Wood for a Duck. Indeed, the English proverb that states, ‘Revenge is a dish best served cold’ is not applicable to Indian Cricket fans. But in India, here they serve as hot and fast as they can. Countering Virat Kohli’s picture, which was captioned ‘Just out for a morning walk; when Joe Root out for a duck, India’s official team India supporting group in the X, ‘The Bharat Army’ and ‘Mumbai Indians Fans Army’ posted, ‘Beautiful Evening too’ 

Later, When England’s explosive All-rounder Ben Stokes got clean-bowled for a duck facing fiery Mohammed Shami, ‘The Bharat Army’ funnily reacted, ‘Just give us some time to make the edits’

Eventually, when England player Mark Wood out for a duck to Mohammed Shami, ‘The Bharat Army’ retaliated with a sarcastic caption of ‘Good night’ placing three ducks on the water, keeping the faces of Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Mark Wood on its head. It went viral. 

The Bharat Army’s quirky replies made Twitter have a field day to torment English Cricket fans. Meanwhile, former Indian Wicket-Keeper Batsman Parthiv Patel joined the social media banter, posting, “12th november… fastest way to reach london..air india will take care…”

Nevertheless, the Match between England and India was a all round performance from Indian Team. Rohit Sharma played a Captain’s knock, Shami and Boomrah led the bowling attack that gave a return gift to the defending champions, they should remember for a long time.
