“I hit it too well” Says KL Rahul after hitting a six to win the match against Australia in World Cup 2023

KL Rahul wins it for India

Every batsman often hopes to hit a six to win a crucial game, but KL Rahul was amazed at his own timing after pulling off the feat against Australia in India’s opening game of the ICC World Cup 2023 on Sunday.

With India needing 5 runs to win and Pat Cummins bowling the 42nd over, Rahul was batting at 91. He intended to hit a four and a six to reach his seventh ODI hundred, but he made a mistake. Rahul hit the second pitch from Cummins over the covers for a six, and he dropped to his knees in disbelief when the ball sailed over the ropes rather than bouncing within the field and over the fence.

I hit it too well. I was just calculating how I could get to a hundred at the end. I wanted to get a hundred by going 4 & 6 – hopefully some other time I can get it.

The match winning innings

KL Rahul played a truly fantastic innings. He was sent in to bat after Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer were quickly dismissed, and together with Virat Kohli, he had to stabilize the innings and create the groundwork for a successful chase. Rahul’s mission wasn’t simple, though, as the Australian bowlers were taking advantage of the pitch’s early advantages.

The game’s turning point came with Rahul and Kohli’s magnificent partnership of 165 runs.. They displayed exceptional talent and application as they steadily increased India’s inning while alternating the strike and punishing errant deliveries. With his stroke play and poise at the crease, Rahul in particular impressed. Twitterati reacted with praises for both the heros.
