Telangana Election Update : Can Janasena show the impact in Telangana Elections?

janasena 8 seats telangana

Janasena party, which initially declared its intention to contest in 32 seats in Telangana, has now scaled back to only 8 seats. Following its alliance with the BJP, Janasena has limited its electoral focus to a select few constituencies. While there has been no official announcement regarding seat allocations for Janasena from the BJP, reports suggest that Janasena’s leader, Pawan Kalyan, has agreed to field candidates in 8 seats. Prior to the alliance discussions with the BJP, there were reports of Janasena negotiating for a minimum of 11 seats. However, the final number of seats Janasena will contest is confirmed to be 8. It’s worth noting that out of these 8 seats, 5 are in the combined Khammam district, where the BJP’s presence is relatively weaker.

Janasena Insisting for sherilingampally seat

within GHMC. However, the former MP and BJP leader, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, opposes this proposal and is exerting pressure on the BJP to allocate the seat to a BJP candidate only. Sherilingampally falls under the Chevella parliamentary constituency, previously represented by Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. He insists that Sherilingampally, which constitutes 30 percent of the votes in the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, should be given to a BJP candidate to improve their chances of winning that seat. It appears that the BJP may not disregard Konda Vishweshwar Reddy’s influence, making it highly unlikely for Janasena to secure that seat. On the other hand, Janasena is determined to contest the Sherilingampally seat and expresses confidence in their ability to win it if given the opportunity. Sherilingampalli seat allocation may be finalised after Modi’s public meeting in Hyderabad on November 7th, in which Pawan Kalyan is also participating.

Can Janasena show the impact?

As of now, Janasena is prepared to contest 8 assembly seats in Telangana. The majority of these seats are located in the combined Khammam district, where the BJP does not have a significant presence. It seems as though the BJP has allocated these seats to Janasena in areas where they do not even have their own candidates to field in elections. Among these 8 seats, Madhira is a Congress stronghold, represented by CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka as an MLA, while the remaining seats are under the hold of the BRS party. Now the question arises, can Janasena show the impact where it is going to contest? if it loses deposits in elections, Pawan Kalyan surely face criticism for his decision.

After Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the former MP, resigned from BRS, the BJP attempted to take him into the party and held discussions with him. However, Ponguleti waited until the Karnataka assembly election results before joining the Congress. In August of this year, the BJP held a public meeting in Khammam, but the party failed to gain any significant momentum there. Up to this point, the BJP has announced candidates for 100 seats, including only 2 seats in the combined Khammam district, specifically Bhadrachalam and Yellandu. Now, the BJP has allocated 5 seats to Janasena in the combined Khammam district, with candidates for the remaining 3 seats yet to be announced.

Does Janasena have 8 Candidates?

As Janasena is contesting the Telangana assembly elections, the party has focused on recruiting new members. On November 6th, the popular television actor Sagar, who gained fame with the ‘Mogali Rekulu’ serial, joined Janasena in the presence of Pawan Kalyan. After his joining, there are speculations that he might contest from the Ramagundam constituency, which is his native place. However, the BJP has already given this ticket to Kandula Sandhya Rani, a ZPTC member from BRS who recently joined the BJP.

Real estate businessman Sri Mummareddy Premkumar from Hyderabad, Lakkineni Surender Rao, a businessman from Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Muyyaboina Umadevi from the same district have also joined the Janasena party. All the new members of Janasena have expressed their commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Telangana and are ready to take on any responsibilities that Pawan Kalyan offers them within the party.
