Dunki – Shahrukh Khan Movie Review

Dunki Shahrukh Khan

Dunki’s movie story is about illegal migration, narrated with coherent emotions of comedy, anxiety, friendship and relevance of human bonding. The film depicts the emotional journey of a group of friends who desire to relocate to another country. The plot follows the exciting journey of people who take an unusual path known as the Donkey Flight, demonstrating the hardships they meet along the way. The movie starts from the heartland of Punjab, then travels to Europe, then to the Middle East. Hardy Singh’s (Shahrukh Khan) eternal dream is to settle down in London, where the movie shows the precarious journey from learning the English language to grit.

Actor Shahrukh Khan lifts every scene quintessentially, especially the spectacular emotional scenes. The first half is hilarious and thought-provoking. The good-feel humour and subtle nuances of the characters are impeccable. The second half is pacy, ingrained with patriotism and intense melodrama.

Albeit the second half is slow and lengthy, the director infuses the high-decibel emotional scenes into the audience. Director Rajkumar Hirani’s brilliance is visible in every visual. His depiction of the courtroom’s emotional scene is outstanding. Hirani’s dialogues and script pull off the film with ease. Taapsee Pannu delivered a phenomenal performance. Her Chemistry with the Shahrukh Khan worked well. Vicky Kaushal’s cameo role, as Sukhi did, will be etched in our memory.
