Samalkot 5 lakh houses jagan

On October 12, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate 5 lakh houses constructed under the ‘Navaratnalu Pedal Andariki Illu’ scheme in Samalkot, Kakinada district. The Chief Minister will be interacting with the beneficiaries at the public meeting. The housewarming will be organised in selected layouts in all the districts, where public representatives, concerned ministers, and officials will attend the event. The people who will benefit from this will be present at the meeting with their family members at the mega house ceremony.

The AP State Housing Corporation has achieved the target of completing the construction of the houses by August under the flagship program as per the instructions of the Chief Minister. ”It is the biggest achievement of the government in the country to complete a large number of houses with all infrastructure facilities like electricity, drinking water, roads, and drainage, ” said officials of the housing department. Moreover, the officials added that with Special Chief Secretary [Housing] Ajay Jain and AP Housing Corporation Managing Director G Lakshmisha constantly monitoring the progress of housing and issuing instructions from time to time, the department succeeded in achieving the target”.

As per information provided by Ajay Jain, 5,00,653 housing units have already been constructed under the Navaratnalu Pedal Andariki Illu Scheme. Officials said that by August 28, they had completed the construction of 500653 houses across 26 districts. According to the housing department, the maximum number of 42,478 houses was constructed in Chittoor district, followed by 36,090 in Vizianagaram, 32,413 houses in Srikakulam, 28,483 in YSR Kadapa district, and in the rest of the districts, the targets were completed too.

According to the official data, the housing sites were sanctioned in the name of women members of the family in order to empower them. The state government is facilitating the supply of 4.50 metric tons of cement and 0.48 metric tons of steel to each beneficiary at a lesser price. Moreover, the government is also providing 20 metric tons of sand free from the nearest stockyard, depot, or reach. Sands in bulk are being provided at bigger layouts to make the sand available to the beneficiaries within the layout.Temporary godowns were established to make the construction material available to the beneficiaries of the layout themselves. Apart from constructing the houses, the government is also developing the layouts as villages by providing infrastructure such as water supply, drainage, electricity, and CC roads at an estimated cost of Rs 32,909 crore and social infrastructure such as schools, Anganwadi centres, and health centres. The market value of each completed house, along with the land provided, is between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. The Andhra Pradesh government’s ambitious housing initiative, the ‘Navaratnalu Pedal Andariki Illu’ scheme, is likely to have several positive effects on the government’s popularity and support from various segments of the population, which could be beneficial for the 2024 elections.

Here’s how the government may benefit:

  1. The beneficiaries of this housing scheme will naturally become strong supporters of the government. Providing them with affordable housing and empowering women by sanctioning the housing sites in their names will create a sense of gratitude and loyalty. These beneficiaries, along with their families, could become vocal advocates for the government during the election period.
  2. By sanctioning the housing sites in the name of women members of the family, the government is empowering women. This could resonate strongly with female voters, who make up a significant portion of the electorate. The government’s commitment to women’s empowerment could earn their support and appreciation.
  3. The scheme primarily benefits the poor and underprivileged sections of the society. These marginalised communities often hold significant voting power. By providing them with housing and essential infrastructure, the government is likely to win the support and loyalty of these communities. These voters may see the government as one that genuinely cares about their welfare.
  4. Beyond just housing, the government’s commitment to developing infrastructure like water supply, drainage, electricity, and roads in these housing layouts will have a positive impact on the overall quality of life for the residents. This is likely to result in a more favorable perception of the government’s performance and efforts in improving living conditions.
  5. The development of social infrastructure such as schools, Anganwadi centres, and health centres adds another layer of appeal to voters. Families with access to these services will view the government’s efforts as an investment in their well-being and that of their children, potentially garnering support.
  6.  The government’s investment in housing and infrastructure is likely to have a positive economic impact in the areas where these projects are carried out. This economic development can lead to job creation and increased local prosperity, which can be a strong factor in winning local support.
  7. Providing housing at affordable rates and subsidising construction materials could lead to a lower cost of living for beneficiaries. Lower expenses may lead to greater satisfaction and support for the government.
  8. The government’s ability to complete such a massive housing project with infrastructure facilities may improve its public image and ranking in Niti Aayog reports. People often support governments that deliver on their promises and make their lives better.
