Animal Review: Unapologetic tale of a man’s world.

Animal Review

Animal opens with an old Ranbir Kapoor, looking at his life and telling the story of him becoming Ranvijay to an Animal. He specifically mentions in a scene that. “Unfortunately its a man’s world”.

He is unapologetic, Raw and completely away from the restraints of wrong and right. An old enmity between 2 brother that has resulted in a generational jealousy turns violent with an attack on Balbir Singh, played by Anil Kapoor.

Ranbir, is a genious student and has learned many crafts. He can fly planes, drive cars, motorbikes, shoot guns, design weapons, plan attacks, plan holidays and be a son when needed. He is playing everything that a man wants to be. He sets out to avenge the attack on his father and unearths a bigger plot. His goal is to save his family from the threat. He is willing to go to any length to ensure the protection of Balbir Singh’s family and empire.

Balbir Singh, doesn’t like the raw approach of his son and hence the difference in opinions. Ranvijay is out of control and doesn’t think about the outcome his actions. He understands that his father has made an empire that is beyond the hold of law. He soon garners support from his company men and his extended family too. In the pursuit of vengeance, he starts ignoring his wife and kids too.

Bobby Deol gets very less screen time but makes his mark. His character is even wilder that Ranbir’s character. [Spoiler] He can’t speak and Ranbir can’t hear in that big bull fight.

The trailer was long but did not give away anything from the storyline. If you have watched it, you would know. The story is slow paced yet gripping. How Ranvijay (Ranbir) comes out victorious of this war and how his actions set in motion, the rise of another big bad wolf, kept in dark for the second part may be.

Director, Writer & Editor of Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, tells a story of generational wrongs accumulating to become a full blown war. There is nothing to like in a war but the history is made through wars only. Its an Alpha Male trying to safeguard is family and build an empire on his own terms.

Caution: The movie is long and requires 4 hours to sit in the theatre. The movie unapologetic, so feminists and politically correct brigade might not like it.
Further the movie is strictly for adult audience and has moments that can be considered problematic.

Watch it with caution.
Not for Kids.
