Andhra Pradesh: The resigned MLA of YSRCP, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy reveals the future plan!

YS Sharmila RK

Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, who recently resigned for the MLA post and YSRCP membership, made some interesting comments about his future plans. Alla Ramakrishna Reddy clearly stated that he would align with YSRTP president YS Sharmila, regardless of the decisions she takes. Alla expressed his frustration with YSRCP, criticizing the party and claiming that he had contributed significantly to the party but had lost everything personally. He interacted with the media in Mangalagiri on Saturday (December 30th), where he shared his future political plans and the reasons behind his departure from YSRCP.

Reasons behind Alla Ramakrishna Reddy’s quit from YSRCP

Alla Ramakrishna Reddy stated that he is a devoted follower of the late YS Rajashekhar Reddy and expressed his desire to continue his loyalty to the YSR family. He declared his willingness to align with YS Sharmila, stating that his decisions align with her plans. He emphasised that if YS Sharmila joins Congress, he will join her. As of now, he is not associated with any party and has no thoughts of returning to the YSRCP. He alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not allocate funds for the development of his constituency, Mangalagiri. Despite several appeals to the government, only Rs. 120 crores were allocated instead of the requested Rs. 1200 crores, he alleged. Even these Rs. 120 crores have not been released, and Alla added that he spent his own money, up to Rs. 10 crores, for development works.

Alla stated that, like Jagan Mohan Reddy’s desire for a second term as chief minister, he also aspires to serve as an MLA for another term. However, he expressed dissatisfaction as the government did not cooperate with him in carrying out work in his constituency. He reminded us that the people of Mangalagiri voted for YSRCP with the expectation of development in the constituency. When the government neglected these expectations, Alla questioned the difference between the TDP and the YSRCP.

Mangalagiri Seat for BC candidate

Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, the first MLA, officially resigned from the YSRCP ahead of the elections. Alla Ramakrishna Reddy won from Mangalagiri for two terms in 2014 and 2019. The first time, he secured a narrow majority of 12 votes, and the second time, the majority was over 5000 against the TDP candidate Nara Lokesh. Alla is discontented that despite defeating a prominent TDP figure, Jagan is not showing him the expected consideration.

Alla left the party on the same day Jagan appointed Ganji Chiranjeevi as the Mangalagiri assembly segment in-charge. Ganji Chiranjeevi had defected from TDP to YSRCP in 2022. Mangalagiri is a significant seat for BCs, and the majority of MLAs who have won from 1989 to 2009 from this seat belong to the Padmashali community. There is a likelihood that YSRCP might offer the ticket to a BC leader this time, with Ganji Chiranjeevi from the Padmashali community being a probable contender. TDP is criticising YSRCP, suggesting that they are choosing a BC candidate for the ticket in anticipation of defeat.

Sharmila’s Entry into Andhra Pradesh Politics?

When Alla Ramakrishna Reddy resigned from the YSRCP, speculations arose that he might join forces with YS Sharmila, who is rumored to be considering joining the Congress. Reddy himself has now confirmed his willingness to align with her. Currently, Sharmila has not disclosed her plans for Andhra Pradesh, but there are speculations suggesting that she might be appointed as the Andhra Pradesh Congress President in January. If this materializes, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy could secure a prominent position in the Congress and potentially contest from Mangalagiri on a Congress ticket. Sharmila’s entry into the Andhra Pradesh political landscape could significantly impact the political dynamics in the state
